Proclamation erecting new county of Wayne, 1803

January 24th. 1803. "Whereas by an act of Congress passed on the 30th April 1802. Entitled an act to enable the people of the Eastern divisions of the Territory North West of the Ohio River, to form a Constitution and State Government, and that after the formation of said State, all that part of the north Western Territory which is not included within the Boundaries prescribed for said State, Shal be attached to and make a part of the Indiana Territory; it has Therefore become necessary for the convenience of the Citizens in the newly acquired Territory and for the due administration of Justice, that a new County should be laid off and Established, the Governor Issued a proclamation Establishing the boundaries as follows viz. beginning at a point where an East and west line passing through the Southerly Extreame of Lake Michigan would intersect a North and South line passing through the most westerly bend of the said Lake, and thence north along the last mentioned line to the Territorial Boundary of the United States thence along the said boundary line to a point where a due east and west line passing through the Southerly extreme of Lake Michigan would intersect the same thence west along the last mentioned line to the place of begining and that the said County should be designated and Known by the name of the County of Wayne

Proclamation Altering Boundary Lines of Knox, Randolph, and St. Clair Counties, 1801

The Governor Issued a proclamation altering the boundary lines of the Counties of Knox & Randolph and St. Clair as follows, to wit, the boundary of the County of Randolph shall begin on the Ohio River at a Place called the Great Cave, below the Saline Lick, thence by a direct north line until it intersects an East and West line running from the Mississippy through the Sink hole spring, thence along the said line to the Mississippy thence down the Mississippi to the mouth of the Ohio and up the Ohio to the place of beginning.

An Act for the division of Dearborn and Clark counties, and for the formation of a new county out of the said two counties, 1811

§ 1. BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That all that part of the counties of Clark and Dearborn, included within the following bounds, viz. "Beginning at the mouth of Log Lick creek, on the bank of the river Ohio, thence to the corner of sections five and eight, town four, range three, thence north to the Indian boundary line, thence with the same westwardly to a point opposite the north-east corner of Clark's grant, thence on a direct line to the said corner of the said grant, thence a direct line to the Ohio river at the lower line of town two, north, range ten, east, thence up the Ohio river with the meanders thereof to the beginning," shall compose one new county, called and known by the name of Jefferson.

An Act for the removal of the seat of Justice of Clark county, and for other purposes, 1810

WHEREAS it hath been represented to the General Assembly of this territory, by the petition of a large Reason of majority of the citizens of Clark county that they labor the law, under great inconveniences in consequence of the seat of justice being at Jeffersonville, a place on the verge of said county, and whereas it hath also been represented by the said petitioners that the removal of the seat of justice of said county to the town of Charlestown, would, in an eminent degree contribute towards the convenience of the inhabitants thereof — therefore,

An Act for the formation of a new County out of the counties of Washington and Jefferson, 1815

SEC. I. BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the first day of January next, all that part of the counties of Washington and Jefferson, which is included in the following bounds, shall form and constitute a new county, that is to say. Beginning at a point on the east fork of White River where the line dividing sections four and five, in range two east, town three north crosses the same; thence due north to the Indian boundary line; thence with said boundary line eastward to the point where said line intersects the northern boundary line of the Grouseland purchase ; thence with the last mentioned line eastwardly to the point where the line dividing ranges seven and eight east, crosses the same; thence with the last mentioned line south, to the point where the line dividing townships three and four north, crosses the same; thence with the last mentioned line west, to the east fork of Muscacketuck river; thence down the said river, with the meanders thereof, to the junction of Drift fork of White river; thence down the same with the meanders to the place of beginning.

An Act for the formation of a new county out of the counties of Harrison and Clark, 1814

BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives of the Indiana Territory, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eleven, all that part of Dearborn and Clark counties which is included in the following boundaries, shall form and constitute two new counties, that is to say — "Beginning at the corner of townships number 7 and 8, on the line of the state of Ohio, thence north, until the same arrives at fort Recovery, thence, from fort Recovery southwardly, with the line of the western boundary of the purchase made at fort Wayne, in the year one thousand eight hundred and nine, until the same intersects the line of the northern boundary of the purchase made at Grouseland, thence northwardly, with the line of the last mentioned purchase until the same arrives at a point from which a due east and west line will strike the corner of town seven and eight on the aforesaid state of Ohio line"

An Act for fixing the time at which the courts of Common Pleas are to be held in certain counties, and for other purposes, 1810

An Act extending the bounds of the county of Harrison, 1810

WHEREAS it has been represented to the General Assembly, that it would be a public convenience to attach to the county of Harrison a small slip now in the county of Clark, on the Ohio river — therefore, § 1. BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That all that tract of country contained in the boundary following, be attached to, and constitute part of the said county of Harrison, to wit: to begin at the intersection of the line dividing the fifth and sixth ranges with the river Ohio, thence with the meanders thereof to the mouth of Falling run, thence a straight line to the intersection of the range line between the fifth and sixth ranges, on the boundary of the Delaware purchase, thence with that line to the place of beginning.

An Act to form a new County out of the Counties of Knox and Clark, 1808

BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the first day of December next, all that part of the counties of Knox and Clark, which is included in the following boundaries, shall form and constitute a new county, that is to say; beginning at the point on the river Ohio, where the meredian line from which the ranges take number, strikes the same, thence due north to the present Indian boundary line, thence with the said boundary line, to the intersection of the same by the line which divides the fourth and fifth ranges east, thence with the latter to the above mentioned boundary line, between the Jeffersonville, and Vincennes districts, and with the same to the intersection of the line dividing the fifth and sixth ranges, thence with the said range line until it strikes the Ohio River, and thence down the same, with the meanders thereof, to the place of beginning.
