An Act for the division of Gallatin County, 1815

Be it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives of the Illinois Territory, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That all that tract of Country within the following boundaries, (to wit,) beginning at the mouth of the little Wabash running up the same to Joseph Boon's mill, thence due West to the third principal meredian, thence North to the South Best corner of Edwards County, thence with Edwards County line East to the Big Wabash, thence down the same to the beginning ;shall constitute a separate County to be called White ;and for the purpose of fixing the permanent seat of Justice for the said county the following persons be appointed commissioners (to wit,) James Ratliff, Benjamin White, Samuel Hay, Thomas E. Craig and Stephen Hog, which said commissioners or a majority of them being duly sworn before some Judge or Justice, of the Peace in this Territory to faithfully take into view the situation of the settlement, the geography of the county

An Act establishing the boundary lines of Galletin County, 1813

Be it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives of the Illinois Territory and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same That the line of Galletin County do begin at the mouth of Lusks Creek on the Ohio River running up with said creek to miles 's old Trace, Thence along said Trace to the meridian Line which runs north from the mouth of the Ohio river, Thence north with said line to the lower line of Madison County, Thence with said line to the dividing line between Illinois &Indiana Territories and thence with said line to the mouth of the Wabash, &thence down the Ohio to the Beginning— This act to commence and be in force from and after the Passage thereof

Proclamation establishing Gallatin, Johnson, and Madison counties, 1812

By virtue of the powers vested in the Governor of the Territory, I do hereby lay off a county or district to be called the County of Madison to be included within the following bounds, viz.: To begin on the Mississippi, to run with the second township line above Cahokia east until it strikes the dividing line between the Illinois and Indiana Territories therein with said dividing line to the line of Upper Canada, thence with said line to the Mississippi, and thence down the Mississippi to the beginning. I do appoint the house of Thomas Kirkpatrick to be the seat of justice of said county. I do also lay off a county or district to be called the County of Gallatin, to be bounded as follows, viz.:

Proclamation erecting new county of Wayne, 1803

January 24th. 1803. "Whereas by an act of Congress passed on the 30th April 1802. Entitled an act to enable the people of the Eastern divisions of the Territory North West of the Ohio River, to form a Constitution and State Government, and that after the formation of said State, all that part of the north Western Territory which is not included within the Boundaries prescribed for said State, Shal be attached to and make a part of the Indiana Territory;it has Therefore become necessary for the convenience of the Citizens in the newly acquired Territory and for the due administration of Justice, that a new County should be laid off and Established, the Governor Issued a proclamation Establishing the boundaries as follows viz. beginning at a point where an East and west line passing through the Southerly Extreame of Lake Michigan would intersect a North and South line passing through the most westerly bend of the said Lake, and thence north along the last mentioned line to the Territorial Boundary of the United States thence along the said boundary line to a point where a due east and west line passing through the Southerly extreme of Lake Michigan would intersect the same thence west along the last mentioned line to the place of begining and that the said County should be designated and Known by the name of the County of Wayne

Proclamation altering boundary line between Randolph and St. Clair counties, 1803

March 25th. Sundrie petitions having been presented to the Governor, from a number of the Citizens of the County of Randolph, Complaining of the great distance from the seat of Justice of their County, and praying that the line dividing the Counties of Randolph and St. Clair may be so altered as to anex them to the latter, the Governor Issued a proclamation, declaring the line separating the Counties of Randolph and St. Clair shall begin on the Mississippi River four miles and thirty two Chains south of the point, where the present division line intersects the Mississippi Bottom, thence by a direct line to the Sink hole Springs, thence by a line north sixty degrees East until it intersects a north line running from the great Cave on the Ohio River, and the alterations and boundaries so established shall take place from and after the first day of may next.

An Act extending the bounds of the county of Washington, 1814

§ 1. BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That all that tract of country, contained in the boundary following, be attached to and constitute part of, the said county of Washington, to wit : begining at Freeman's corner on the meridian line, thence north to the present Indian boundary line, thence with said Indian boundary to the line established by the treaty of Grousland, thence with said line to the place of beginning, and the same so attached shall be deemed and taken as a part of the said county, in the same manner, and under the same regulations as are prescribed for the said county of Washington.

Proclamation Altering Boundary Lines of Knox, Randolph, and St. Clair Counties, 1801

The Governor Issued a proclamation altering the boundary lines of the Counties of Knox & Randolph and St. Clair as follows, to wit, the boundary of the County of Randolph shall begin on the Ohio River at a Place called the Great Cave, below the Saline Lick, thence by a direct north line until it intersects an East and West line running from the Mississippy through the Sink hole spring, thence along the said line to the Mississippy thence down the Mississippi to the mouth of the Ohio and up the Ohio to the place of beginning.

An Act for the division of Dearborn and Clark counties, and for the formation of a new county out of the said two counties, 1811

§ 1. BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That all that part of the counties of Clark and Dearborn, included within the following bounds, viz. "Beginning at the mouth of Log Lick creek, on the bank of the river Ohio, thence to the corner of sections five and eight, town four, range three, thence north to the Indian boundary line, thence with the same westwardly to a point opposite the north-east corner of Clark's grant, thence on a direct line to the said corner of the said grant, thence a direct line to the Ohio river at the lower line of town two, north, range ten, east, thence up the Ohio river with the meanders thereof to the beginning," shall compose one new county, called and known by the name of Jefferson.

An Act to attach part of the County of Gibson to Posey, 1815

§ 1. BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the first day of March next, all that part of the present County of Gibson, to wit, Beginning on the township line dividing townships four and five, where the line dividing ranges thirteen and fourteen crosses said township line;thence with said range line north till it strikes the Wabash river ;thence with the meanders of said river to a point, where the township line aforesaid, strikes said river;thence eastwardly with said township line to the place of beginning, shall be, and the same is hereby separated or taken from the said county of Gibson, and added or attached to the said Posey county

An Act for the formation of a new County out of the Counties of Washington, Gibson and Knox, 1815

BE it enacted by the Legislative Council and House of Representatives, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the first day of February next, all that part of the counties of Washington, Gibson and Knox, which is included within the following boundaries, shall form and constitute a new county, which shall be known and designated, by the name and style of the County of Orange;that is to say. Beginning on the Indian boundary line, where the range line dividing ranges two and three west of the second principal meridian intersects said boundary line;thence south with said range line until it intersects the line dividing the counties of Perry and Gibson;thence east with said line until it intersects the western boundary line of Harrison county;thence north with said line to the south-west corner of Washington county, and north-west comer of Harrison county;thence east with the line dividing Harrison and Washington counties, until it intersects the line dividing sections sixteen and seventeen in range two east, town one south ;thence north with said line dividing sections sixteen and seventeen to the Indian boundary line ;thence westwardly with the said Indian boundary line to the place of beginning.
