Melish, John and Samuel Harrison. Map of Illinois Constructed from the Surveys in the General Land Office and other Documents, 1818

This map was created based upon the boundaries that were originally submitted for Illinois statehood. However, the boundary was extended northward by 41 miles. Had the boundary not been moved, the cities of Chicago, Rockford, and Galena would not have been within the State of Illinois. See Map of Illinois Constructed from the Surveys in the General Land Office and other Documents, 1819 for a revised map showing the agreed upon boundaries.
